
The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development in Kenya (RCMRD) conducted a user needs and characterization workshop between 01st and 2nd February 2023.
The two-day event was attended by participants from Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWSNET), International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Kenya Space Agency (KSA), National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) and Apollo Agriculture.
Several presentations were held on the ADM-Kenya project, drought monitoring tools and the current drought monitoring activities in Kenya. Groups were formed and various institutional gaps were discussed at length with reference to the Agricultural drought monitoring needs assessment tool (survey) developed by RCMRD. Day two of the workshop involved group presentations on the gaps, identified priority areas, characterization of the stakeholders and formation of the technical working groups.
